Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt Receives Prestigious Award from Hispanic National Bar Association |

Each year at the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) Annual Convention, individuals and organizations are honored for their contributions to the Hispanic legal community. This year, regional law firm Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt will receive the HNBA Corporate Partner of the Year Award.
“We feel extremely humbled and grateful to receive this important national honor,” said Mark Long, Schwabe’s managing partner. “Schwabe is dedicated to supporting the voice of Hispanics in the legal community and this award is a tribute to that dedication.”
Schwabe was chosen as the recipient of the Corporate Partner of the Year Award because of its continued and long-standing support of the HNBA. This support includes: hosting a board of governor’s meeting; providing financial support to its attorneys wishing to participate; encouraging and supporting the efforts of shareholder Román D. Hernández, as HNBA National President; and serving as a Gold Sponsor of the HNBA for two consecutive years.
The HNBA awards will be presented at the association’s 35th Annual Convention in Minneapolis, Minn., from September 8 to 11, 2010. The HNBA is a non-profit, non-partisan, national membership association that represents the interests of the more than 100,000 Hispanic attorneys, judges, law professors, law students, and legal professionals in the United States and Puerto Rico. The HNBA’s goals include: advocating for an increase in the appointment of Hispanics to state and federal courts; national advocacy on policy issues affecting the Hispanic community; and the continued professional development of the Hispanic legal community.
In addition to the Corporate Partner of the Year Award, the HNBA will present awards for:
Latino Attorney of the Year;
Latina Attorney of the Year;
Latino Judge of the Year;
Latina Judge of the Year;
Law Student Organization of the Year;
HNBA Affiliate of the Year;
Regional President of the Year; and
HNBA Lifetime Achievement Award.
In addition to the HNBA Awards, each year at the HNBA’s Annual Convention, the Government of Mexico honors a distinguished member of the Mexican, Mexican-American or Latino community in the United States with the “Ohtli” Award, the highest award presented by the Mexican government to a foreigner, as recognition of contributions that have resulted in empowering Mexican communities in the U.S.
