Europe’s Largest Express Delivery Operator Manages 20,000 Mobile Devices with Wavelink Avalanche |

2010/6/8 |
TNT Express (www.tnt.com), Europe’s largest express delivery operator, relies on Wavelink® Avalanche® (www.wavelink.com) to centrally manage its mobile devices and deliver software updates for thousands of devices deployed worldwide.
“TNT Express needed a solution to manage the dynamic and high-profile, business-critical applications it is running. By investing in Wavelink’s Avalanche Mobility Center, TNT Express can deploy updates as needed and respond more quickly to issues when they arise, helping its frontline workers be even more effective.”
TNT Express delivers 4 million parcels, documents and pieces of freight each week to more than 200 countries. Key to this effort is the ability to update and maintain the mobile devices used by the workforce. When it came time to select a solid mobile device management company, TNT Express worked with Ryzex, a Wavelink partner and enterprise mobility solution specialist, to evaluate available systems. Following a thorough evaluation process, TNT selected the Wavelink solution over several alternatives.
“As companies rely on mobility, it is increasingly important to be able to manage all of their mobile devices securely and efficiently,” said John Martin, director, Wavelink Europe Middle East and Africa. “We were thrilled to have been selected by TNT Express for their strategic project and have enjoyed assisting them with streamlining their business processes."
To date, TNT Express has rolled out nearly 20,000 licenses of Wavelink Avalanche Mobility Center™ (MC) across 72 countries, with plans for well over 30,000 licenses. Administrators remotely diagnose and remedy software issues, conduct software deployments and easily provide assisted guidance for end users.
David Thornhill, TNT Express ICS mobile and peripheral specialist, said, “When choosing a solution we were looking for far more than just a software deployment mechanism. We needed a feature-rich client that would allow us to do more with our existing devices and increase the level of support we were providing to our users. Considering the complexities of working with a truly worldwide estate, we also needed confidence that our selected partner would be able to provide the necessary assistance during the transition.”
Mr. Thornhill continued, “Wavelink’s assistance with software integration and their willingness to provide additional support has proved invaluable. Some of the new capabilities we have gained by using Avalanche have now become business-critical functions. We have reduced the amount of device downtime and reduced the number of unnecessary hardware calls.”
Tony Doyle, managing director of Ryzex, added, “TNT Express needed a solution to manage the dynamic and high-profile, business-critical applications it is running. By investing in Wavelink’s Avalanche Mobility Center, TNT Express can deploy updates as needed and respond more quickly to issues when they arise, helping its frontline workers be even more effective.”
