Wall Preparation

1.Walls should be clean before starting. Greasy walls such as those in a kitchen can be washed with a mixture of water and ammonia (equal parts). Soap & water should work for non-greasy walls.

2.Walls should be smooth: spackle nail-holes & dents and sand smooth. Do not use oil-based spackling products as they can bleed through the wallpaper.

3.If the wall is finished with non-flat paint (gloss, semi-gloss, satin, eggshell, or additive designer paints) the adhesive may not stick. Lightly sand the wall, or use a primer sealer for vinyl wallpapers (available at most home decor stores) to pretreat the wall.

4.If the wall has stains or dark colored paint - use a tinted primer-sealer to cover the wall before hanging your papers.


Why use wallpaper primer
Much like painting, walls need to be prepared to be wallpapered. A primer is used prior to placing new wallpaper in order to ensure adhesion to the wall.

Primer/Sealer
For damaged walls, the National Guild of Professional Paperhangers advises primer/sealers which soak into walls and seal problem areas. If placing wallpaper on an older wall, make sure to remove any dirt or dust with soap and water. Sanding down any chipped paint will also help the wallpaper rest smoothly.

Construction method:Top-down for construction, can be painted by roller or brush. Construction time is different according to wall substrate condition, usually 1-2 times roll painting. (The second time will be done after the painting of first time dryed)
