Adobe, Nokia, Samsung, Jaguar Land Rover, BMW and more confirmed to present at Image Sensors
LEATHERHEAD, United Kingdom . 15 January 2014 - Image Sensors 2014 organisers have released the full conference programme for 2014, consisting of a two day conference and an additional day of two pre-conference workshops.
Over 18 speakers have been confirmed to present over the two days, including Adobe, Nokia, Samsung, Jaguar Land Rover and BMW. The 2014 programme will feature end user insights and technical innovation from global image sensor experts. The peer-researched agenda will address current issues and opportunities facing the image sensor market, and will include five key sessions: Image Capture and Processing, Gesture Recognition, Global Shutter Sensors, Automotive Imaging and The Future of Digital Imaging.
Given extended coverage on the Image Sensors programme for 2014 is automotive imaging, bringing vision to vehicles of today and tomorrow. Attendees will hear exclusive papers from three OEMs - VW, BMW and Jaguar Land Rover as well as leading Tier 1 supplier Valeo, to give a detailed analysis of imaging in the automotive sector, and image sensor developer Melexis will present on the challenges facing sensor producers.
Speaking at Image Sensors is Dr JungChak Ahn from Samsung, Juha Alakarhu from Nokia, Prof Sylvain Paris of Abobe, and Lindsay Grant of ST Microelectronics, all with expert knowledge to share in the opening session on consumer imaging, focussed on the latest sensor innovations and image processing techniques.
Gesture recognition will be presented by pmdtechnologies and Texas Instruments who both have made significant steps in evolving this technology to the next level of user interface. Day 1's closing session discusses global shutters, with an evaluation of the different technology pathways led by Guy Meynants of CMOSIS, Dr Shoji Kawahito of Brookman Technology and Dr Manuel Innocent of ON Semiconductor.
The closing session on day two delves into tomorrow's technology, with a session on 'The Future of Image Sensors'. High-speed imaging, artificial retina, next generation broadcast imaging, plastic electronics, and hyperspectral imagers will all be expertly covered by speakers from Ritsumeikan University, Nara Institute, BBC R&D, ISORG, and IMEC respectively. The session culminates with a closing Keynote from Prof Peter Seitz, sharing his experiences and vision for the future of semiconductor photosensing.
A workshop on, 'A Million Images per Second and Beyond' led by Dr Renato Turchetta, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory and Dr Albert Theuwissen of Harvest Imaging poses the question, 'What on earth shall I do with all these pixels?'. Both sessions incorporate three hour interactive workshops with discussion time alongside presentation slides. The workshops have proven a popular addition to the Image Sensors conference in recent years.
