Hong Kong Gift Fair, World's Largest, Opens at HKCEC |

Two major trade fairs opened today in Hong Kong: the HKTDC Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair, the largest fair of its kindin the world, and the Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair. The two shows continue through 30 April – the gift fair at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) and the printing fair at AsiaWorld-Expo.
Latvia and Luxembourg
The 29th gift fair is hosting more than 4,130 exhibitors from 35 countries and regions, including first-time participants from Latvia and Luxembourg. The fair welcomes 15 group pavilions, including one from The Hong Kong Exporters’ Association, the show’s co-organiser. The Hong Kong Exporters’ Association pavilion will include a new zone, Brand Oasis, focused on corporate image. Two returning zones, Design Village and Isle of Originality, will feature a variety of stylish products.
Inspiring Business
Three new zones are on offer at the fair: Avenue of Inspiration, presenting young entrepreneurs and their companies and products; the Travel Souvenirs Piazza; and Christmas Lighting. The Small-Order Zone counts some 400 showcases featuring about 4,000 products. Other areas include the Hall of Fine Designs and some 150 brands, the World of Gift Ideas, with 774 exhibitors, and iAccessories, spotlighting gadgets and accessories for smartphones and table computers.
Seminar Spotlight
The fair is showing a variety of events and activities, including this afternoon’s product demo and launch pad, highlighting premium items from Indonesian pavilion exhibitors, the Hong Kong Society of Illustrators and the Taiwan Design Center. Tomorrow afternoon’s Buyer Forum looks at emerging market opportunities, while an afternoon seminar focuses on lifestyle gifts. Seminars on 29 April examine product safety and supply-chain management for giftware, as well as online sales opportunities. A 30 April seminar discusses accredited testing services.
Design Awards
The third “Hong Kong Smart Gift Design Awards” presentation ceremony organised by The Hong Kong Exporters’ Association, takes place this evening. The winning entries will be on display, in Hall 5C, throughout the fair period.
Printing Promise
The ninth printing fair has attracted more than 400 exhibitors from seven countries and regions: the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, Taiwan, Thailand and the United States.
The fair, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and CIEC Exhibition Company (HK) Ltd, is showing the latest printing and packaging offerings, printing consumables, packaging material and equipment, and digital printing, pre-press and packaging design services.
Green Printing
Highlights include the new Green Printing and Packaging Solutions Zone, showcasing eco-friendly paper products and other material, as well as printing and packaging consumables. The De Luxe Zone, offering high-end printing services and luxury product packaging, and Food and Beverage Packaging Solutions, featuring packaging for food, wine and other products, return.
Other special areas include Digital Printing Equipment, Packaging Services, Printing Services, Integrated Pre-Press Service and Trade Service.
Hot Topics
The latest printing and packaging trends and information are available in a series of 10 seminars and forums. These include this afternoon’s seminars on green printing and hot topics in printing technology; tomorrow’s focus on luxury printing and packaging; the 29 April Exhibitor and Buyer Forums; and the 30 April spotlight on how to promote the Chinese mainland’s packaging craftsmanship.
Awards on Display
The fair also features the winning entries in the Hong Kong Print Awards, the Hong Kong Digital Printing Award and the Green Printing & Packaging Solution Display. They’re on show, in Hall 6, throughout the fair.
